  • DO YOU CHARGE FOR APPOINTMENTS?

(The only exception being for events where otherwise stated in the booking information, or for out of hours appointments) We please ask that if you book an appointment with us and are not able to attend, that you kindly let u know as soon as possible, so that we can offer the slot to another bride. We would like to be able to keep our appointments without charge for as long as possible, but no-shows and last minute cancellations, especially on evenings and weekends, mean that we are sometimes left with wasted appointment slots which a booking or cancellation charge would cover the cost of.

Please do check your spam folders for our response as sometimes the our first email can land there instead! If you have a price point you would like to stick to for your gown please feel free to let us know when booking, or we can discuss this at the start of your appointment to ensure we are respectful of your budget.
  • WHAT SIZES ARE YOUR SAMPLE GOWNS?
We believe it is essential to have a variety of sizes available to try in store, and currently have samples from a UK 6 - 22 Unfortunately we cannot have every gown in every size, so be prepared for us to have to clip, pin and squeeze you in to some of the gowns as we are trying on (we promise to give you the best possible idea of how a gown should fit in the correct size!)
  • WHAT IS A TRUNK SHOW?
A 'Trunk Show' is a 3 day event, where the Featured designer will send in an extended collection of their sample gowns for our brides to try on in store (in addition to our own collection) - Also sometimes referred to as a Designer weekend/Spotlight event. They are a fantastic opportunity to find your Dream Dress if you have your heart set on a particular designer. There are often discounts available on orders placed during the event, and they usually only come round once a year! There are usually charges for appointments for these events. Please get i touch to find out about any upcoming Trunk shows in our calendar! Please note that the samples provided for a Trunk Show by the designer are their catwalk samples so best fit a UK size 8-10.
  • WHAT IS A SALE EVENT?
We run Sale events for our bridal gowns through out the year, they are a fantastic opportunity to get your hands on a stunning gown for a heavily reduced price! We will always list our upcoming Sale events on our Facebook Events page, with full info and some previews of the gowns available. Usually the Sale event will be a mix of gowns from our 'off the peg' collection which are often discontinued styles or excess stock, with additions from our main collection for the sale event day only! The gowns are ready to take away on the day so are perfect for any last minute brides, or just anyone looking for a great deal! Our sale events usually run slightly differently to a regular appointment, often with more than 1 bride in the boutique at once (unless stated otherwise in booking info) and changing room time is more limited to around 1 hour per bride.
  • WHAT ACCESSORIES DO YOU HAVE IN STORE?
We have a lovely selection of accessories for our brides to try on and complete their perfect bridal look! Stunning headpieces by Ivory & Co, and a great selection of veils from brand such as EDit , Twilight designs and Bianco Evento. • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU FIND YOUR DREAM DRESS! Our combined 30 years of experience in bridal means that we are experts at helping you find a style that suits your body type, personality and wedding vibe! We will have an initial chat at the start of the appointment and walk you through the rails to show you the different options available. We like to work by process of elimination and go through some different shapes, fabrics and necklines to work out what you are feeling most confident in, before focusing in on that perfect style! Usually starting with around 3-4 gowns and then pulling out more from what you do/don't like when trying on. If you already have a good idea of styles or have tried on before elsewhere please feel free to give us any direction and show us some inspo pics of anything you would like to try. You can be completely honest with us when trying on our gowns, we are here to find what you love! If you have a price point in mind that you would like us to be respectful of when selecting gowns please do let us know.
  • WHAT ARE THE NEED-TO-KNOWS FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
The key points that you need to know when coming to Dream Dress for your first appointment are as follows - We have comfortable seating for up to 3 guests. Please refrain from wearing fake tan or heavy makeup Please do not bring any food/drink with you on your appointment The boutique is not a child friendly environment Our main request for you is to bring a positive attitude and open mind to your appointment (we always say that you need to be on an 'i love me' day when trying on!). You can be completely open and honest with your preferences but our best advice would be - try the wildcard suggestion! Please see the rest of our FAQ page for a more detailed breakdown of what to expect on your appointment, we look forward to meeting you!
  • WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT?
The ideal timescale to visit us is 12-18 months before your wedding date, but you really can never be too early (some brides choose their gown 2 years in advance - when you know, you know!) Gowns can take anywhere from 4 - 9 months to arrive on standard production schedules, and we then like to allow 3 - 4 months for any alterations needed to perfect the size or length. So, to have the most options available, it is always best to leave yourself plenty of time! The worst way to pick your gown is under pressure, and feeling like your options are limited by what will arrive in time can put a dampener on the experience. That being said, you should really only visit when you think you are ready to find and commit to your Dream Dress. If your plan is to 'get ideas' and then place your order in another 6-12 months, you have to accept that our styles in store can change and gowns can be discontinued - so if you fall in love with a dress it is best to get it ordered to avoid disappointment!
  • WHAT IF I HAVE LESS THAN 6 MONTHS TO THE WEDDING DATE?
You can absolutely still visit us, even with a short timescale! Some designers offer a 'rush cut' service on select gowns so we may still be able to order you that Dream Dress. But, even if we aren't able to place an order with sufficient delivery time, we have a great selection of 'off the peg' gowns available to take away on the day, with a variety of sizes from UK 6-22. We will do our absolute best to find you the perfect gown to suit your needs (we are always up for a challenge!)
  • WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
There are no set items that you are required to bring with you on your appointment. However if you would like to bring anything along with you - a pair of heels similar to what you would consider wearing on the Wedding day can be handy (as some gowns come in different length options). Simple nude seamless underwear is best, but if you would feel more comfortable in some shapewear while changing that is completely fine, most gowns do not require any shapewear for the fit as they have fantastic structure built in. If you have a strapless bra feel free to bring it, but again most gowns are designed to be worn without!
  • WHO SHOULD I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
We suggest bringing 2-3 of your most trusted friends or family members along with you to your appointment. It can be an overwhelming experience trying on gowns for the first time and more guests usually only means more opinions (which can sometimes be confusing). You are always welcome to book a 2nd appointment to bring back additional guests and show them your top choice or shortlist of gowns once you have narrowed down your selection. We also have lots of brides visit us alone for their first try on, and often find it a very productive experience! We are a small boutique with limited seating so please do let us know in advance if you would like to bring more than 3 guests and we can discuss options. We do allow children in the boutique if you are not able to find childcare for your appointment, however please bare in mind that it is not the most child friendly environment and there are lots of high value breakable items in store so we do ask that they remain seated with a guest as much as possible, we also do not allow any food/drink inside the boutique.
  • I WAS HOPING TO LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE ORDERING!
We know that every bride wants to look and feel their best on the their wedding day, but in our eyes (and from many years experience) finding the right gown will have you loving your figure exactly the way you are! We often find that brides will put off visiting us to try on until they are at their 'ideal' weight, however this can sometimes take longer than anticipated and eventually lead to more limited options for ordering due to the reduced timescale! Our best advice is to visit us straight away to find your gown so that you have the most options available to you. Then if you still plan on fluctuating we can discuss this when taking measurements and come to a decision on sizing together. If we have enough time before the wedding date, most of our designers can offer a 'remeasure' date, meaning that we can send in final measurements at a later date anyway before making that final decision on size. Once your gown and sizing is confirmed no changes can be made to the order, however if you fluctuate gown further your dress can easily be adjusted during your alterations!
  • HOW DO PAYMENTS WORK?
The standard process when ordering your gown is that a 50% initial payment is due upon ordering, and the other 50% is due when the gown arrives in with us and you have your collection appointment (approximately 3-4 months before the wedding date). Depending on timescales we can sometimes offer split payment options to spready the cost over a couple of months, or if the timescale allows we can also work out a payment plan option (an example would be a smaller deposit amount e.g. £500 then monthly instalments to pay off the balance until the gown arrives in store). This does not apply to 'off the peg' or sale gowns which are sold as seen and most bride pay and takeaway on the day.
  • HOW DO ALTERATIONS WORK?
We do not have an in-house alterations service. We work closely with 2 amazing local independent seamstresses, who we highly recommend and have worked with for many years! Both have their own businesses and premises which means they have extended opening hours and can offer appointments on evenings/weekends. We suggest contacting them to book your alterations as soon as your gown arrives in with us. We will provide their details on your 'pick up' appointment for your gown. Alterations are an additional cost which is quoted by the seamstress upon consultation.
